0. Common Courtesy
This rule can be explained simply by quoting a famous childrens movie quote:
"You shall never bother others, you shall be both fair and kind. And whatever else you do, I shall not mind."
Simply put, this should sum up anything from OOC racism, hatriot, name calling, rudeness, spam, CAPS lock abuse, spamming reports/text, general PM and /b misbehaviour and whatever not. Be kind to others and think before you type. There is no need to be hurtful or abusive to others, especially towards admins who are here to help you out.
This also goes for destroying other players' property such as vehicles. Think about whether you really need to or whether you can simply roleplay that you have without actually causing the damage. Apologise for your actions or offer compensation to those that you accidently kill or destroy their property, it's only fair. Just be nice to eachother.
In IC text, we use English, and only English. No internet language (lol, omg, lmao) and to speak in other languages, you write in english with a [LANG] tag in front of your text.
(For example - John_Smith: [Spanish] Hey what are you doing?)
Punishments:
Punishments will vary from a fair warning over PM to a permanent server ban depending on severity.
1. Do Not Metagame.
Metagaming is using out-of-character (OOC) information in-character (IC). Inciting (Informing someone OOCly of something IC) someone to metagame is also against the rules.
Example:
Ex.1 - John_Smith reads Sam_Johnson's nametag above his head and roleplays that he now knows him.
Ex.2 - John_Smith has been told OOCly that Sam_Johnson is outside and is now using that information to influence his in-character actions and/or decisions.
Ex.3 - Adam_West PM's John_Smith that the police are outside his house and as such John_Smith uses this information to influence his in-character actions and/or decisions.
Punishments:
Anything from an admin jail to a ban depending on severity and the actions affected by your metagaming.
Teamspeak/Skype (VoIP) is only to be used for ingame communications for law enforcement factions.
2. Do Not Powergame.
Powergaming can be defined as either:
Performing acts that just aren't humanly possible or realistic
Forcing roleplay on to someone else and not giving them a proper chance in the roleplay.
Making up certain situations/decisions which only benefits your character and not roleplaying their negative effects. (see Ex. 3, Ex. 4 and Ex. 5 below)
Example:
Ex.1 - John_Smith runs across the street, flips over the handrail, lands perfectly on his feet and continues to run away from the cops.
Ex.2 - John_Smith kicks Sam_Johnson on the chin causing Sam to have a seizure.
Ex.3 - Roleplaying a child character who can shoot guns, drive expensive cars etc but then stating that your character cannot be arrested due to his/her age.
Ex.4 - Roleplaying having tinted windows on your car whenever you have something to hide, but without actually tinting them beforehand.
Ex.5 - Stating that you have hidden your items via a /me previously when they are actually on you up to that point.
Punishments:
Admin jail
If you are unable to scriptwisely hide something (such as drugs/car keys etc) then you must have a screenshot with /servertime of you placing it somewhere available to present upon being questioned about it's existence.
3. Roleplay at all times
Usually there is always a difference of opinion sparking during the roleplay and at moments you feel that it should end. Slowing down and/or stopping the pace of the roleplay can sometimes make the situation worse. The attitudes there can grow more resentful, people could pull up and/or pull off during it, just about anything.
This includes but is not limited to:
No healing during fights.
No ninja-jacking other players (Pulling players out of their vehicle with no roleplay) unless being chased or in a situation where it would be impossible to type a /me.
No quitting the game to avoid being arrested or getting into roleplay situations with people.
No vehicles allowed inside the mall
No provoking others without proper IC reason (This includes provoking cops into chases or other inmates at SACF)
No Olympic Swimming (defined as continuous swimming with no physical effect to your character)
Roleplay taking out large weapons (M4, AK47, MP5, Sniper Rifle, Rifle, Baseball Bat, Katana, Cane, RPG)
No advertising of illegal items (weapons, drugs etc)
No abusing bikes/motorbikes (hopping about, tapping W to go faster etc)
You are not allowed to role-play a character which was already Character Killed (CK)
Radios (/r) and phones are IC only, so no OOCly chats or discussions over these. Also Radios can only be used as Radios, nothing else (SMS, PTM, AIM, PAGER etc.)
Punishments:
Punishments can vary from short or long admin jail times to a permanent ban based on severity.
Take screenshots if you feel the roleplay is not up to standards so that you can report it in the Report Player forum. Be sure to inform the other party that you will be posting one so they can post their side of the story during it.
Use /re or /report if you feel an administrator should step in during the roleplay. Continue the roleplay until you are told to stop by an administrator even after reporting. Admins often spectate the scene for a minute or two so they can understand the situation before arriving on scene, so continue roleplaying.
You are allowed to stop the roleplay if the other side is making you sexually uncomfortable. Take screenshots and/or use /re or /report during the scene for an administrator to step in.
Do not roleplay in OOC areas:
- Adminjail
- While administrators are on scene handling the current situation.
4. Do not use third party modifications.
The rule on this is very strict. Usually third party modifications gives a person an advantage over other players which isn't fair.
Bottom line is, you need to know exactly what you're doing before installing skin mods to make sure they comply with this rule. Failure to do so puts you at liability if you are discovered to be using something that may be used for personal gain.
If you know of someone that is using a mod or a hack, then you MUST inform an administrator. Failing to do so may result in you being banned for harbouring a hacker.
Examples:
CLEO
Cam Hack
Health hacks.
Sobeit
Scripts to avoid AFK timers, receive paychecks etc
Punishments:
Permanent Ban
The ELM CLEO modification is allowed for LAW and FD on duty only.
Cam hack can only be used with admin consent and supervision.
Keybinders are allowed to enhance roleplay, but must not be used as a replacement for typing out commands.
Skin modifications are perfectly fine as long as they do not affect other players - as they are only visual modifications for yourself.
CLEO Stream Memory Fix is allowed to be used for those players who have an excessive amount of skin modifications installed.
5. Do Not Deathmatch
Deathmatching (known as DM) is when you kill another person without a sufficient roleplay reason to do so.
This also includes revenge killing. This is when you respawn after being player killed and attempt to or kill a person who has just killed you. Your memory is wiped of everything that led up to your death when you are murdered.
Punishments:
Admin Jail or Kick. Severe deathmatching will result in a ban.
Deathmatching in admin jail will result in a permanent ban.
With regards to revenge killing, if you are saved by the medics (FD) after being brutally wounded then you are allowed to continue the roleplay, with your memory intact.
6. Do not Bunnyhop
Jumping to get somewhere faster is against the rules. Although you may find this form of transportation to be convenient and quick it is abuse of San Andreas physics.
Punishments:
Warning or a kick.
Admin jail for repeat offending.
7. You are allowed to ignore OOC chats during roleplay situations unless an admin is talking to you.
If you're in the middle of a roleplay situation and another player is using any of the OOC chats in an attempt to disrupt roleplay or simply contact you, you may ignore it. However, if an administrator is trying to speak with you in any of the OOC chats for any admin related issue, you are obliged to respond to them. Refusing to listen to or ignoring an admin when they're trying to contact you can result in punishment.
Example:
/b Can you give me some money?
/pm Why did you knock me out?
/b Who owns this car here?
/pm Why are you arresting me? I already paid my fine!
Punishments:
Warning or kick. Admin jail for repeat offending.
If you have been killed, you may PM the killer to ask for clarification on why this was the case. As the killer or attacker, it is common courtesy to answer the question to ensure the player does not accidently end up revenge killing.
8. Do not AFK/BRB for any longer than 10 minutes or in public. The use of any animations or scripts to stop the script detecting you AFK after 10 minutes is not allowed.
You are allowed to be AFK for any time up to 10 minutes, provided you are not in a highly populated area. If you do go AFK in an area where people are likely to attempt to roleplay with you, you can be kicked regardless of the time you have been idle in that area for. The use of anything to stop the script detecting you as AFK is strictly forbidden.
Punishments:
Kick for AFKing in public.
Permanent ban for avoiding AFK script.
If the server is full, you may be kicked after AFKing for 2-3 minutes to allow space for those waiting to join
9. Disgusting or depraved roleplay that may cause offense to those around you requires OOC agreement from all parties involved beforehand.
Unless prior OOC agreement is given by all parties involved, the following is strictly forbidden on this server:
Rape
Cannibalism
Pedophilia
Bestiality
Necrophilia
Sexual harassment (forcing any type of sexual roleplay onto another person or touching their characters inappropriately)
If prior OOC permission is given by all parties involved, the roleplay must happen away from anybody else where it will not be visible to others and also will not potentially be interupted by others accidently. Subjecting others to see this type of roleplay by roleplaying in an area where you are likely to be seen is included in this rule.
Punishments:
Permanent Ban
If you begin to feel uncomfortable at any stage of the roleplay, even after giving permission, you are allowed to stop the roleplay immediately by PMing the player involved. Note that permission can be revoked at any time for roleplay which has previously been agreed to.
10. Do not violate rules because someone else did against you.
If another player violates one of the server rules, you are not allowed to break a server rule because you feel it was unfair or unjustified. In some situations, it may seem like a rule was broken against you when in fact the other player had a perfectly legitimate reason for doing what they did.
Example:
Ex.1 - Quitting to avoid death costs because you were (in your opinion) deathmatched.
Ex.2 - Deathmatching someone back because they have started hitting you.
Punishments:
Anywhere from an admin jail to a ban depending on severity.
If you feel a player has broken a rule, you should use either /re or /report ingame as well as taking screenshots of the incident in case the issue cannot be resolved IG. You should not attempt to disrupt or stall the roleplay unless admin assistance is being given.
11. Scamming/Robbery Rules & Regulations
Out of Character scamming or robbing is not allowed. This is very serious offense, because this is done out of character which means you got the money in a NON-RP way. You can scam or rob people in character, but there are limitations of money that you can take and the levels that you and the other player must be.
You also cannot kill a player after you have robbed or scammed them. This is usually done to prevent that character from calling the cops / seeking revenge but this is not allowed.**
Scamming
Can take a maximum of $1.000.000* (unless admin permission is granted BEFOREHAND)
Weapon and drug scams are allowed.
House, business and vehicle scams are NOT allowed. This includes raffles.
*You can receive permission from an admin to scam more money which cannot exceed $500,000. These special circumstances will only be granted if a thorough reason and idea is presented.
Robbing
Can take a maximum of $500.000
There are no limits to how many weapons/drugs/packages you rob. If you have had weapons/drugs/packages robbed off you, you are allowed to rob these goods back. Not the value in cash, but the actual goods themselves.
Applies even when you just "roleplaying" robbery without taking any goods/cash.
Example:
Ex.1 - You want to buy gun packages which are worth $40,000. You take the packages without paying the price and then run away.
Ex.2 - You are in need of few bucks so you decide to rob somebody, you find one person which is alone in dark alleyway and you rob
that person taking no more than $500.000.
Ex.4 - You are a drug smuggler and somebody wants to buy some drugs from you for $45,000. You take the money and you tell him/her that you are going to get them now, but you don't and you just take their money.
Punishments:
Admin jail and a return of all goods
Temporary bans for severe cases.
If you have been scammed, you are allowed to rob your money back even if it's more than $500.000.
**You are allowed to kill the person if they bring it upon themselves. Example: Insulting the person that is robbing them and/or showing noticeable, obvious attitude.
Blackjack scams are not allowed by any Licensed Casino. It is your own fault if you are illegally gambling in any other establishment hosting dodgy blackjack games. Admins will not protect you from this.
Loaning is done AT YOUR OWN RISK. Admins will not help you if you loan money/property to other people and they do not return it. If a person runs off with it ICly or gets banned then the money with the person is gone. Only give you things to people you trust
12. Only members of official factions can do contract kills.
Only members of official factions can be contracted to do contract kills. No outsiders or people unofficially involved are allowed to partake in this - only those who have been officially invited (/invite) into the faction.
Under no circumstances should factions become "murder for hire" factions. This is simply to state that they may take on a contract if asked to.
This is to stop random civilians advertising themselves as "hitmen" in order to randomly kill others for payment.
Punishment:
Admin jail
If you wish to create a hitman faction, you are required to have permission from the Head Of Factions beforehand.
13. You need ingame lead admin permission to burn/destroy a property.
If you are thinking about burning/destroying a property, you are required to have ingame lead (Level 4+) permission and supervision. You will need a very good reason on why you wish to do this and will need the approval before going ahead with it.
Example:
Ex.1 - You decide to attack another faction and burn/destroy their houses. Before you do it you must /re to ask a level 4+ admin to approve it. If you get the permission you are free to do so.
Ex.2 - The owner of Idlewood Pizza Stack has insulted you so you decide to burn down his business. You need to /re and gain permission from a level 4+ admin to do so.
Punishments:
Admin jail or a temporary ban depending on severity.
If burn down permission is given, the property will be closed for a week long period. Using it in this period will get you admin jailed for powergaming and the property removed from your ownership.
14. You're not allowed to give or share your registered accounts to other people.
You are NOT allowed to share or give out registered accounts to your friends, relatives or other people. If that person wants to play he/she must register their own account through the UCP without any help. This is a very serious offence which may get you banned permanently and it is even more serious when you are trying to sell your account for real money.
This also includes the sharing of character applications or stories. These MUST be original and made without the help of anyone else.
Your IP and security of your account is also YOUR responsibility. Nobody else should be using your computer, account or network apart from yourself so keep all login details and passwords SECURE. If you suspect someone may know your details, change them immediately. You will get no sympathy if a sibling or friend gains access to your account through your own carelessness which causes you to get banned.
Example:
Ex.1 - You show your friend our server and he wants to play with you but he doesn't want to waste his time by registering a new account so you give him one of yours.
Ex.2 - You advertise your spare accounts to others on the internet and give them access to them.
Ex.3 - You leave your password on display and your sibling logs on to your account and gets banned for hacking.
Punishments:
Permanent ban
15. Do not PM admins regarding admining, especially not admins on adminduty.
If you have got a problem with something or someone then you can request help using /report or /re ingame. As soon as an admin finds some free time to speak to you about it he or she will do so, because it is their duty. Do NOT PM them under any circumstances. You are not special and every player on this server is equal. If you need to speak to a specific admin, mention their name in the /re or /report.
This also includes PMing admins with ingame suggestions or with unban requests. Use the respective forums for these issues.
Example:
Ex.1 - You want to ask a question about moving your business and you use a PM command to contact an admin about it instead of using /re.
Ex.2 - You are getting DM'ed by another person and you just PM any admin instead of /report to get a quicker response.
Ex.3 - Someone is refusing to roleplay and you decide to PM an admin to help you instead of using /report
Punishments:
Kick or admin jail for repeat offending.
16. Bank robberies require admin approval and supervision.
In order to keep a good balance between fun and confusion, bank robberies will need both admin consent and the admin to watch the roleplay. This way all successful bank robberies/hostages can go through just fine and rewards can be handed out to the successful ones with ease.
There is no roof access to any bank inside of Los Santos.
Rules for robbing a bank:
There must be at least 30 PD and/or SD online and on duty.
You need to inform the admin exactly how and what you plan on doing for the bank robbery. This includes the weapons and tactics your group have planned out and how long it could possibly take.
As soon as you pull a gun out silent alarms are to go off. It is up to you and/or the admin to PM any of the officers online informing them of a bank robbery.
17. No committing crimes/robberies in certain areas
You can't commit blatant acts of crime in highly populated areas or areas that would realistically be watched over by the security forces of Los Santos. These restriction mostly applies towards robberies, scamming, holding up; general harassing. These areas mostly consist of new players getting adjusted to the server so it would be unfair to take advantage of them there.
Areas Protected:
City Hall / Police Department - Pershing Square
Sheriff Department in Dillimore
Airports
Banks (Unless performing a bank robbery approved by an admin)
Vehicle Dealerships
Mall (Inside the gate area only)
All Hospitals
Fishing Pier
PD/SD precincts across San Andreas
SACF Lobby
Impound Lot
Punishments:
Admin jail
If the criminal roleplay leads to the area then you are allowed to continue. These areas aren't meant to be OOC safezones for people that are involved in these types of roleplay.
18. Prison Rules/Privileges.
You are not allowed to break out of prison unless you have admin supervision the entire time and there are 6 active guards on duty. It provides fairness for both sides and will calm down all the craziness which in return would provide more roleplay/sanity inside of the prison.
You are only allowed to fight and brawl with a minimum amount of guards on duty which are as follows:
Fighting another inmate (1-on-1) requires 2 guards on duty*
Fighting a guard or starting a brawl (3 or more people involved) requires 4 guards on duty
You are required to have admin permission to create a shank. The admin must watch over your roleplay of your creation of such weapon and it will only be given to you if the admin has deemed the roleplay to be satisfactory and realistic.
Punishments:
Admin jail or kick depending on severity.
There are NPC guards at each door/gate of the prison. You cannot just run out of a gate if it has been opened by an officer.
Players not in isolation are free to roam around suitable areas of the prison to increase roleplay opportunities outside of their cell. This is a privilege but players may be locked in their cell if they break rules constantly or display an inability to properly roleplay in a prison environment.
* You are allowed to have agreed 1-on-1 fights with other inmates in the ring in the yard only, with no guards on duty. Both parties must agree to the fight and no one else is allowed to be involved. Anyone getting involved reverts to the brawl rule listed above - requiring 4 guards on duty.
There's a control room watching over the prison CCTV's. If no guards are present at a scene that could bring their attention, the control would report it. PM one of the guards on duty if such situation occurs.
19. Illegal Names
No celebrity names (Defined as a person who is easily recognized in a society or culture)
No unrealistic names
No known fictional figures (Defined as a movie/tv/video game character)
No gag names (such as: Mike_Hunt, Ben_Dover, Mike_Roch, Eileen_Dover, Al_Coholic etc.)
No fun names that do exist but would be considered trolling, including but not limited to Gaylord etc. as surname
Punishments:
Permanent admin jail until you have changed name (You will need to purchase a namechange for this)
Exceptions can be made for when both firstname and surname are commonly used names. (For example Samuel_Smith) which conflicts with a possible known figure.
You will be required to purchase a namechange to change your name if you have used an Illegal Name and these will not be given out free to you. It will up to the handling admins discretion on whether they change it for you for free.
20. No Vehicle Surfing
Vehicle surfing is defined as being on top of a vehicle to ride it, instead of being inside of it. Often people do this to get to locations quicker without the driver's permission but it is not allowed.
This includes surfing on top of regular cars and trains.
This also includes pretending someone is in the trunk of the car using animations such as /crack on top of the vehicle. If you wish to kidnap someone and roleplay them as being in the trunk, they will have to occupy a passenger's seat in the vehicle.
Punishments:
Expect to be slapped off. Kick for repeat offending.
Exceptions:
You're allowed to ride in and shoot from the back of trucks.
You're allowed to ride on and shoot from the back of boats
You're allowed to have one person surfing on a bicycle (BMX & lowrider) as if standing on the pegs/sitting on handlebars using /sit
21. Administrator instructions are final, whether they are stated in these rules or not
At EG:RP (in-game, on the forums, IRC, Teamspeak or any other platform/area of EG:RP), the administrator instructions are final and should be followed and accepted at all times.
Punishments:
Admin jail to temporary ban, depending on severity.
If you feel an admin is abusing their position and authority then please send a forum PM to the Owner or Lead Admin
22. You are required to report bugs to the staff team
With script development the server may encounter bugs in the script. If you come across a bug, you are required to report it in the Bug Reports forum. Help make EG:RP a better place!
Exploiting the bug for any reason, especially for your own personal gain, is strictly prohibited.
Punishments:
Exploiting bugs will result in a permanent ban.
This rule applies to in-game, on the forums, UCP, IRC or Teamspeak.
23. You are required to have admin permission for transferring any money, property or vehicles to your other characters
If you would like to transfer any existing money, property or vehicles from one of your characters to another, you must have permission from the administration team beforehand.
You will need a sufficient OOC and IC explanation of why you would like to do this. Remember that your characters may not know eachother ICly.
Punishments:
Anything transferred without permission (alt-alt etc.) will be removed from your possession and not refunded.
24. You are required to have permission to be in two official factions
If you have more than one character, only one of these characters may be in an official faction. Permission to join a second official faction on another character requires permission from faction leaders and a double faction request approval.
More information can be found at the Double Faction Requests forum.
Punishments:
If the faction leader has been lied to, or the truth has been twisted to allow you into the faction without permission, you will be kicked until permitted by both sides.
You are to use the Double Factions section, whenever you are applying to join another official faction than the one you are currently a member of.
This rule does not apply to unofficial factions
25. No profiting through the means of selling/buying EG:RP features/goods.
The rule on this is very strict. You are not allowed to sell/buy or advertise the selling/buying of any IG money, vehicles, properties, memberships or accounts to gain real money.
You are also not allowed to sell/buy any OOC items for exchange of IC money/goods throughout EG:RP.
Basically no mixing of any IC/OOC goods or services.
Examples:
Paying someone ingame cash in exchange for a skin mod they have.
Advertising on external websites that you are selling $1million EG:RP money for $1 real money
Buying donation memberships and selling them to other players for IG cash
Advertising your services for writing applications or creating accounts for players who will pay with real money.
Paying someone your IG cash for them to create a faction application for you.
Punishments:
Permanent Ban for all involved
